The Curriculum

All children at Broughton Primary School have access to a broad and balanced curriculum.

Our exciting curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum and is organised, where possible, into themes which cover extended periods of time. For details of the National Curriculum, please see the attached file at the bottom of this page.

Wherever possible, we use visitors to school or external visits to enhance the curriculum and to increase children's engagement.

Use the links below to find information about each year group (and if you want any further information, then please ask your child's class teacher):

In the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1, all pupils are taught to Read and Write using the Read Write Inc. phonics scheme. This scheme was devised by Ruth Miskin and is published by Oxford University Press. Visit the Ruth Miskin website to view information for parents.

Children also use books from Oxford Reading Tree and Bug Club in their guided reading sessions.
