Starting in September 2013 pupils in Key Stage 2 will be taught Spanish throughout their time with us.  We have chosen to teach Spanish, as it is one of the major languages of the world, both in Europe and the Americas.  The pupils will follow a programme of work designed to be fun, interactive and develop their spoken and written Spanish.

In preparation for this all members of staff have received Spanish training and for the final weeks of the summer term 2013 we welcomed our own Language Assistant, Victor Sieteiglesias to the school, who is from Madrid.  He taught through out the school and brought expertise, enthusiasm and a wide range of activities to our pupils.  We all hope he will return in 2014 to continue the work he began this year.

Victor presents pupils in Y3 and Y4 with their Spanish achievement certificates and teaches pupils in Y5 about colours and simple Spanish phrases.

The children also have intensive Mandarin and Chinese cultural lessons as part of a whole school Chinese theme around the Spring Festival each year. You can follow this link to our pages about China.
